Italian Caprese Salad

With the SA Cheese Festival this weekend, we thought that we would give you some inspiration for whipping up a delicious snack with the treats you might buy.


Italian Caprese Salad


1 medium to large tomato

1/4 cup fresh Basil leaves

125 g Buffalo Mozzarella cheese

4 tsp Balsamic vinegar

1 Tbsp Olive oil * Cyprus flake salt


* Cyprus Flake Salt is instantly recognisable for its pyramid shape crystal. The texture and mild taste also make this a versatile salt for cooking, baking and garnishing.


Slice the tomato into 2cm thick slices, do the same for the mozzarella. Alternate layers between the tomatoes, mozzarella and basil leaves (beginning and ending with tomatoes). Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic and season with salt to taste.
